Self Reflection

I contacted the Urban Ministry in Greensboro and asked if my fraternity could conduct our semiannual Alpha Sleep out for the Homeless. I am the President for the Eta chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. at the University of North Carolina at Wilmingion. On October 22nd, 2003, we set up tents at the fountain contumacious in front of the atrium on UNCWs campus. My vision for this abatement out was to show the community the brotherhood and compassion indoors my fraternity through solicitation for something bigger than ourselves. Persuasion passel be defined as changing beliefs, attitudes, intentions, motivations, and behaviors. For this project I resolved to test a few of the persuasion manoeuvre that we discussed in class, innovation in the Door, Door in the Face, and Reciprocity. Foot in the door is to ask for something small followed by a sizable request. For example to ask for a single tinned viands item, turn out small talk and them ask for a financial donation or ask if they have whatsoever old clothes that they would like to donate. I thought this to be the most successful, because people were more receptive to this tactic. For instance, a group of guys came by the fountain to support the sleep out.

They didnt do it to bring any canned goods or didnt limit forward to give anything, so I walked over and be trance to transmit a conversation with the young men. I started by enquire them how they were doing and how they liked college life so far. This gave me a chomp of an usefulness because they were freshmen and to them I am a person of spirited stature. flatadays I have ! room to educate or to croak the big brother. After talking to them for a while, now I am a credible person to them because I have given them advice on what classes to take, what teachers to take, and why they need to dally leaden to maintain a good GPA. How they need to get touch on in different organizations on campus so they can be positive role models for those who look up to them and the community.
